Airaksinen (1 )). In the present study automatic perimetry including high-resolution profile perimetry was performed in patients with documented disc haemorrhages with and without RNFL defects. Automatic perimetry on the Competer revealed field defects in nine out of ten eyes with RNFL defects and normal manual and semi-automatic fields, but extensive automatic profile perimetry aimed at areas with photographically documented RNFL defects was necessary in order to find defects in two of these cases.
We found no general cardiovascular risk factors. In short: a healthy group of relatively young glaucoma patients with high lOP and signs of late congenital glaucoma. These high-tension patients had a large CDR both at the retinal and at the laminar level, both in the horizontal and in the vertical meridian (Fig. 2a). The low-tension glaucoma group consisted of two subgroups. 1. Senile sclerotic low-tension glaucoma (SSLTG) This group has a mean age of 82 years. There were 22 eyes of 11 patients.
It was demonstrated that subgroups of open-angle glaucoma can be identified. The possible consequences for their pathogenic mechanism are discussed.
